Sky Beach at Mahanakhon Tower Bangkok

Sky Beach at Mahanakhon Tower is Bangkok’s highest rooftop bar and one of the highest in the world, perched on the 78th floor of the iconic King Power Mahanakhon building with 360° panoramic city views that stretch over glittering skyscrapers and the Chao Phraya River.

This open-air bar blends the thrill of high-altitude viewing with a relaxed, beach-club style vibe – making it a favourite for sunsets, chilled drinks, and city lights that go on for miles.

Whether you’re here to watch the sun dip below Bangkok’s horizon, sip cocktails with friends, or simply take in one of the most dramatic views in the city, Sky Beach delivers a memorable rooftop experience without the ultra-formal feel of some other sky bars in town.

The Experience

Sky Beach sits at about 310 metres above ground on the 78th floor, making it the highest rooftop bar in Thailand and one of the top three highest rooftop bars in the world.

Unlike some of Bangkok’s more formal rooftop lounges, Sky Beach has a laid-back, casual vibe: think breezy open deck seating, retro-chic décor, and a crowd that’s here for the view and the good times rather than stiff formality.

Sunset is the busiest time – locals and travellers alike time their visit to catch those fiery golden hour sky colours before the city lights up under the night sky.

Live music & DJ sets: the venue often features live DJs or music, adding a lively, social vibe after sunset that makes it feel more like a night out than just a viewpoint.

Drinks & Food

The drinks here are slightly more accessible in price than at some of Bangkok’s premium sky bars – cocktails start from around 490 Baht – and there’s a solid selection of beers, mocktails, and signature drinks available.

While Sky Beach isn’t known for extensive food options, you’ll find light bites and snacks to accompany your drinks, often inspired by casual bar fare that pairs well with the atmosphere.

Pro tip: many visitors stay for more than one drink, and overall this can be a cheaper rooftop night out compared to places like Sky Bar at Lebua.

Views & Setting

The main draw here is the unmatched 360° panorama of Bangkok, from sprawling urban skylines to distant river views.

The outdoor, open-air layout makes for sensational sunset photos and excellent Instagram captures, plus the bar’s retro colour palettes and open deck enhance the relaxed, beach-style feel high above the city bustle.

Dress Code & Entry

Sky Beach’s vibe is relaxed and casual: t-shirts and casual shirts are fine, though overly casual items like singlets, beachwear, and flip-flops are usually discouraged.

Unlike some premium rooftop bars that operate on strict dress codes and reservation systems, Sky Beach is mostly walk-in, first-come-first-served, but it does have an entry system because it’s part of the Mahanakhon Skywalk attraction.

Price guide: before about 7 pm the access ticket is around 1,000 Baht+; after 7 pm it’s around 1,080 Baht and includes one drink with entry, which makes timing your visit important if you want sunset views and value.

It’s worth checking websites or apps like Klook as special packages are sometimes available, which won’t make it cheap but can give you a slightly better deal.

Tips for Visiting

  • Arrive before sunset to snag great spots on the open deck and to watch Bangkok transition from day to night.
  • The 360° cityscape makes this one of the best places in Bangkok for skyline photography.
  • The outdoor area may close during bad weather (rain/wind) for safety.
  • Longer stays (multiple drinks) generally give better bang for your Baht than single cocktails at some pricier sky bars.
